Marion

Photo: Giovanni Dall’Orto

she woke

motionless

smiling as ever

ageless it seemed

to countless admirers

she must have

fallen asleep

fallen down?

in her dress

crumpled

faded now

lovely as always

her neck

surprisingly stiff

her head

awkwardly angled

feather boa

fetters?

draped carelessly

dropped?

bound her

she remembered

a single tear

tore sideways

down her papery neck

taking with it

a little more

of her colour

she drifted off

staring

wide eyed

dry eyed

damned wires as ever

just out of sight
